สวัสดีค่ะ วันนี้พลอยมาพร้อมกับหนึ่งใน Parts of Speech
นั่นก็คือ Adjective คำคุณศัพท์นั่นเองค่ะ
เรามาดูหน้าที่และตำแหน่งของคำนี้กันดีกว่า
คำคุณศัพท์ทำหน้าที่ ขยายคำนามและคำสรรพนาม เพื่อบอกลักษณะเพิ่มเติม
สามารถวางไว้ได้สองตำแหน่งในประโยค คือ
1. วางไว้หน้าคำนามที่จะขยาย เช่น black car (รถสีดำ ซึ่ง black ทำหน้าที่ขยาย car)
2. วางไว้หลัง Linking Verbs เพื่อขยายคำที่อยู่หน้า Linking Verbs นั้น เช่น
That phone is expensive. (โทรศัพท์เครื่องนั้นแพง ซึ่ง expensive ขยาย that phone)
เราสามารถสังเกตุจาก suffixes (ส่วนประกอบหลังคำหลักหรือคำต่อท้าย)
ได้ว่าคำไหนเป็นคำคุณศัพท์ แต่ทั้งนี้ทั้งนั้น ต้องสังเกตุตำแหน่งด้วย
เพราะบางคำที่ลงท้ายด้วย suffixes พวกนี้ ก็อาจไม่ใช่คำคุณศัพท์เสมอไป

➼ al เช่น local, principal, physical, dental, fatal, royal
➼ able เช่น countable, comfortable, valuable, capable, predictable
➼ ic เช่น fantastic, ethnic, athletic, basic, historic, scientific
➼ ish เช่น selfish, foolish, girlish
➼ ial เช่น essential, potential, facial, imperial, armorial
➼ ive เช่น positive, negative, competitive, creative, productive
➼ ing เช่น interesting, exciting, embarrassing, boring, amazing, surprising
➼ ical เช่น identical, political, ecological, electrical, tropical, radical
➼ ous เช่น generous, dangerous, famous, nervous, enormous
➼ ory เช่น satisfactory, amatory, auditory, advisory, admonitory
➼ ly เช่น lovely, early, friendly, daily, elderly, monthly
➼ less เช่น careless, hopeless, helpless, homeless, useless, powerless
➼ ed เช่น interested, excited, embarrassed, bored, fascinated
➼ y เช่น easy, crazy, rainy, messy, funny, dirty

- The euro is the official currency of the European Union.
(ยูโรคือสกุลเงินที่เป็นทางการของสหภาพยุโรป)
- I have dual nationality, Brazilian and German.
(ฉันมีสองสัญชาตินะ สัญชาติบราซิลและเยอรมัน)
- She seemed to be tired yesterday.
(เมื่อวานเธอดูเหนื่อย)
- Phuket is famous for its beaches and nightlife.
(ภูเก็ตมีชื่อเสียงในเรื่องชายหาดและการท่องเที่ยวยามค่ำคืน)
